at the present time that the Force was incompetent in the use

of fire-arms. He suggested that Wei Hel Wei men would be most suitable for the purpose.

H.B.M. Consul-General thought this would be best

dealt with in the next resolution 2 (b).

Mr. Bateman: In the event of the first resolution,

A ratepayer asked that the amendment referred to by H.B.M. Consul-General should be read to the meeting.

That this special general meeting of ratepayers sanctions the engaging as an addition to our present force of one native Assistant Inspector and fifteen other ranks trained to the use of fire-arms and if
